Pet PeevesssSSS :) Volume 1 Edition 2

Why is it that everytime you PLAN to be productive it never ends up that way?? Why do I feel the urge to take a nap, watch crap tv, and stare at the ceiling when I have so much I could be doing!!! I would ask why I always feel so unproductive..but I think I just answered my own question.
I will take this moment to provide another edition of "Laura's Pet Peeves":

1. Driving behind a slow as molasses annoyance, thinking it's an old person and giving them somewhat of the benefit of the doubt just because they are old and have "earned" the right to drive slow, and passing them only to find it's a fool on their cell phone, putting on a face...including fake eyelashes, clipping their toenails, and eating a cheeseburger.

2. Trying to take a nap at 12 in the afternoon, only to be rudely interrupted by neighbors on all sides playing dance-dance revolution/rearranging their furniture...ALL the furniture in the apartment/slamming themselves into the wall/throwing ragers....and I did say 12 in the afternoon, not midnight.

3. Arrogance. This I feel does not need an explanation. However I will oblige. It disturbs me when people think they are flipping Lady Gaga and can get away with wearing a meat dress. Which by the way, who does that? I would rather eat the meat than wear it....plus I feel like that would smell. I meant this figuratively of course, basically when people think they are the shiznit and clearly they are no Lady Gaga.

4. Cats. I really have no reason. I just do not like them. They bother me. Just the sight. I can deal with a baby kitten, they are cute. But a grown cat...eh hand me a dog please. Cats also do not like me, and dogs do. A cat is something I'd like to purposefully bother just to see a reaction; like poking it, or petting it in a way it doesn't like...throwing some water on it.

5. When I have to repeat myself a gazillion times. I have no eardrum, it may take a few times for me to hear you...then again somehow by some miraculous occurance it's growing from nothing so perhaps my hearing is getting better. So, that said, if I have to repeat myself 10 times for you I'm going to assume you are just trying to press my buttons verses you acutally cant hear me.

6. When people know me so well they know what buttons to push. If I wanted you to know, I would wear a dang sign. I can't change my pet peeves people. Don't make it difficult for me. This actually isn't really a pet peeve, more of like an "ughh dang it haha".

7. When I spend MANY MANY hours on something and still don't to amazing. I feel as though the time spent should be relative to the given grade. Sadly this is not always the case. This causes me much irritation.

8. When I get asked question after question after question. Ahhh I feel bombarded!! Concise is the way to go. Unfortunately I tend to do this too. I like to ask questions. Funny how when I'm being asked alot of questions I get annoyed, but I think this only applies when I don't have the answers. Then I just get confused.

9. When the dryer goes off, my room is really cold, it's cold outside, I'm snuggled in a sweatshirt, and laying down under a blanket on my big comfy bed. REALLY DRYER you couldn't wait until I was asleep to go off so that at least then I would have an excuse not to get up take my mass of clothes out the dryer AND fold AND put them away?

10. When I get really excited to watch a new episode of one of my favorite shows and then I turn on the tv to find it's a re-run. Quite a let-down. I'm okay watching old episodes...but it really makes me sad I don't get to enjoy a new one! Like last night for instance was a night without new GLEE....so sad. Sad sad day.

I think this is enough for my second edition. Plus, I have things to do. Which I've been saying to myself all day. Which hasn't gotten me started yet.

Stupid Colloquial..or -um..whatever it's called won't let me publish about my cath buddy!!!!!!!

Writing this for the THIRD time, it will not be as good as the first.
So I will repeat myself again. Since 009 asked if I blogged, I felt as though I might as well provide them with more reasons to laugh at me. I hope that it is out of love. I am however I understand an easy target. I too laugh at myself quite frequently, just ask my cath buddy.
If you don't know what a cath buddy is, I am sorry but this blog will not be subject to explaining why I have a cath buddy. She knows I will forever love her for being my cath buddy. Just know that you WISH you had one. HAHA. Also, if you are not in 009...quite a sad reality, I am deeply sorry for your loss...because it is a loss. By some either mistake or miracle 009 is full of all animated loud people. Maybe not all loud..but definietely all animated. Facial expressions are my favorite. I love being at my Wednesday's home away from home; you know how every home has a distinctive consistent smell?? Well, so does ours! AND if you're lucky you may even get to enjoy a few saunas throughout the day...quite the stress reliever.
I really should be doing the craptons of work I have to do! If you're mad this is all I have to say, which is no one since probably no one reads this, that sounds like a personal problem. Happy almost Friday :)!!

Laughing at things you Shouldn't

So, I have a Fundamentals exam tomorrow and I should be studying...especially considering I didn't exactly spend my fall break doing so (but I mean seriously who does that??). I spent it up north as an honorary yankee. Back to the point, I figured since I'm obviously having a hard time focusing I might as well write all the words buzzing around in my head down. This kinda works out considering I haven't blogged in oh I don't know probably a month?
At this very moment I not only am writing on here but I'm also watching Biggest Loser, AND I also happen to have all my books laying around me. Hopefully they will enter my brain through osmosis or something, then again that wouldn't happen because I'm obviously not under water. Books are too expensive to have under water. At least I know which topics are on my exam right? And honestly, I feel like no matter how long I study I still seem to get the same grade so I figure it must be the quality of my studying. Hopefully.
Since I last spilled myself on this thingymajiger I have been in the hospital as a student nurse officially!! That time I had a partner, and boy was that a relief but THIS week "I'm ridin' solo"! I love that song.
Back to my fall break in yankeeville Cleveland, Ohio!! My friend and I definitely realized how much of nursing student dorks we are when after driving hours upon hours we both simultaneously shouted out "aaah I need to shift I'm going to get a Stage I pressure ulcer on my behind!!" We did in fact laugh out ourselves. We also found ourselves talking to people about catheters...not exactly a dinner conversation, though everytime we spoke of it we did happen to be eating dinner. I guess I'll have to tame down everything I learn in class when I'm in public. Darn. How dare people not find the same humor in things such as this as I do!
Speaking of humor....at a Longhorn's in Michigan at 9:30p.m. after being at a game watching my friend's team lose...heartbreakingly, then after hearing the Gamecocks THROW away the game on the radio (boys seriously come on!! GARCIAAA whyyy), and finally combined with the fact that we were exhausted and half asleep, I must admit I did laugh when a child no older than about 1 and a half literally ran straight into a table. Ordinarily I would not have laughed. However when you listen to this kid scream for an hour while his parents continue to feed him pudding (which btw REALLY??? at 9:30 REALLY??) when he obviously does NOT want to be there, and when the kid looks so much like a child on the "it's a small world" ride at Disney World, and when the kid keeps escaping from his parents and running around the restaurant as they continue to eat and not pay attention....I mean it was a little funny to watch this kid run right into a table. It was like watching a bird fly into a glass door. Kinda funny. When I'm that tired and delerious it is a little hard to stop myself from laughing, even if I really shouldn't be laughing. Reading this back to myself makes me feel evil. You had to be there. I think.
I guess I should go back to studying since I have nothing else invigorating to say. Ta-ta :), yes I did just say Ta-ta!!

Mudrun, Nursing School, and Birthday fun

USMC Mudrun 2010 with three of my peeps was a blast, minus the being dropped (it happens haha). I loved how at the point on the course when things started getting intense nobody cared who was on what team because everybody was helping everybody to finish. For us, this was a good thing considering we had no man-power. If I do this again there will be at least one male preferrably two ha because my theory is you either have to be a really tall girl and kinda strong, short and REALLY strong, short and really light, or a man.....and well I am none of the above so I realized how much upper body strength I am lacking quite quickly. Being that just about every obstacle WAAAS upper body strength, I basically could not move my arms at all the next day. This is not an exaggeration. I had men hoisting me all over the place, even though we had no men on our team which I already said. At one point this guy walked up to me and immediately got on all fours and then asked if I needed a boost. It was sweet and I felt bad when I had to say "aw you can get off the ground I already went over but thanks!" True story yes. I found it very humerous to see all of these really built and in shape guys having a hard time. This guy ran into me and I asked him if he was okay and he said "I can't stand" and I laughed and was like well that's understandable and he goes "I think I"m delerious!" It was very funny. Overall the mudrun was a very good, fun, awesome, entertaining, hilarious, enjoyable experience :)!!! Crossing the finish line was also quite refreshing and empowering knowing I'd finally get my own water at the end hahaha.
This week will be our first day on the floor in the hospitals...AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!! I am nervous, anxious, excited, scared, happy, ready or not all in one!! My first day also happens to be on my birthday so I figure it has to be a good day, please no diapers or catheters on my birthday please! I can't believe we are finally here! Lower Division went by SO fast and the past 6 wks have gone by extremely fast as well!!! From the simulation lab to real people here we go :).
So this weekend I went home for my birthday since I can't go home this next weekend. I'd have to say my favorite portion was watching my most favorite little three year old 'mini-me' playing baseball at miracle league. Um hello, adorable! I love it when I get to see that grin from ear to ear and then multiple facial expressions in between :)!
PEACE out!!!

Hamburgers the size of my head

Woooooo another win for the gamecocks last night, good job boys...um well it was a win so good job. However, why is it that we always get so sloppy when we are either a.playing well or b.think we are going to cream the other team? One would think you would play extra hard and tight so that you couuuld see a significant gap in the scoreboard. 38-19 gamecocks final score I believe, but still considering we were suppose to "stomp" them I'd say that 19 points proves we didn't so much do that. Always is harder than anticipated. Normally I can last a whole game, even an ESPN game which can last four hours without having to go to the bathroom or eating food because I'm having that much fun and lose track of time....but on games like last night nope I was starving and we only stayed until the score was 31-13 so about two and a half hours....leaving an entire quarter left to go. Trust me it was just that dragging, BUT trust me I am a dedicated fan..a hungry dedicated fan.
In our search for food we went to the trusty Copper River Grill, home of the biggest burgers ever. No that's not part of their name, but it should be. I'm not kidding or exaggerating at all when I say the patties themselves are as big around as my head. Let's just say I have a pretty heavy to-go box filled with what's left over, yay for today's lunch :)!!
They told us before the year even started that as nursing majors in upper division we would basically have no life. I have found this to be true, see I really would have no life if I didn't take time out to go to football games or hang out with friends. See, really and truly I could be using that time to study for all of my upcoming tests but hey one needs a break every once in a while.
Until next time :)

Poking Fake Tissue and Being Right

I just love being right at this moment. See now if the maintenance people cough cough had listen to my roommate and I in the first place than my carpet probably would not have been completely ruined from the mass amount of water everywhere. But no, I apparently was overloading the washer....HAHA how you feel now maintenance men to find the two girls you basically called stupid knew what was wrong and you didn't. For the record, I am not going to put my washer on extra-large when I was a SMALL load...ha nice try though to try and get me to use more water.

Somehow I don't think piercing fake fatty tissue or muscle tissue with needles is as realistic as giving a human medicine. I mean I realize since we are just nursing students starting out we probably shouldnt be practicing poking each other or well anybody at the moment but as far as I can tell fake tissue doesn't scream when you pierce it or squirt blood.....I mean it does squirt other liquids...the liquids you put in it. Then again, I'd much rather be poking something fake than have one of my clinical-mates jamming into my arm with a needle. Now that is scary, just think about how shaky you would be if it was your first time jamming something into someones arm and then combine that with understandable excitement.....yea exactly, freaky combo.

There's water in my closet...

You know how normally when you call different offices and service companies they take, well at least it feels like, FLIPPING FOREVER to come to you and help you figure out what's up?? Well, obviously where I live we must have it made. Except, we kinda still don't if you think about how we shouldn't be having all of these issues in the first place. But, if you look at it as daaaang we have some fast service than hey we have it made in the shade I'd say. I find it pretty awesome that I call about there being random water surfacing in the carpet in my closet and within 10 minutes of my call I get an extremely loud knock on my door only to open it and find not one but TWO maintenance men. I guess they send two in case the other one has no clue what he's doing. Who knows, but you won't see me complaining especially when one is a sweet old man who knows what he's doing and his lacky cute college boy (obviously I mean this is a college apartment complex) coming with a shop vac.
I have more to say, BIG SHOCKER I know, but I am going to dinnerrr with my peeps so peace out :)!!
